Culture, Arts, and Music

Culture, Arts & Music 501(c)3 is the newest company from Matt Potts, Christina Guerrero, and myself. After realizing Potts & Pans was spreading itself thin between gigs and performances as well as our educational goals, we decided a company that would focus on the educational side of things, and also promote a multi-cultural education throughout the Crystal Lake area was needed. Thus, CAM was born.

For those looking to make a tax deductible donation to CAM to help keep the education running, please contact us at

Anyone who wants to see more about what CAM is all about can stop by one of Potts & Pans Community Steelband rehearsals at 1039 Wanda Lane in Woodstock, IL Mondays: 6-7:30, Tuesdays: 6:30-8 & Thursdays: 5-6:30 and talk to the staff.

The future for CAM holds much beyond steelpan. Although CAM currently runs the P&P Community Bands, and hosts the Great Lakes Steelpan Festival (see below), CAM is also working to provide Crystal Lake with a Brazilian Batteria, and will hold sessions for other cultural activities in the years to come. This includes various styles of music, as well as dance, and culinary arts!

Great Lakes Steelpan Festival

The Great Lakes Steelpan Festival began in 2013. This is an annual festival in April, currently held in Crystal Lake, that unites steelpan groups throughout the midwest, and brings attention to the instrument throughout the community. For more information of GLSF, please visit
