Anthony Jay Houston is an active musician based in Chicago. With a focus on Jazz Vibraphone, he has studied under Ed Harrison at the Chicago College of Performaning Arts towards his Masters in Percussion Performance. Houston also works as a Steelpan performer. Coincedentally, the steelpan and vibraphone are the only two acoustic instruments invented in the 20th Century, one of many reasons they make such a great pair. Learn more about the ensembles Houston works with below, check out some videos on his YouTube channel, or email him for more information!
Potts & Pans Steelband
Potts and Pans Steelband, winner of the Chicago Music Award for Best Calypso/Soca Entertainer, is Chicagoland’s largest steelpan organization. AJH works as one of P&P’s performers, directors, and Vice President. Based in Woodstock, IL, P&P can be seen performing locally, traveling beyond the country’s boarders, for public and private events. Houston provides solo performances on pan, or pan and vibes, and plays both within the larger ensembles.
Andrew D. Huber Trio
After working with Andy on solo projects, AJH & ADH found a great appreciation for each others work in early 2011. Since then, Anthony has worked on many of Andy’s projects and the two have been performing live together throughout the Chicago Area. Jo Marie Sison joined the fray in 2015 as the trio worked on Andy’s latest album, Mercury Gets A Moon (get your copy here!). ADH/AJH/JMS now frequent the area doing acoustic sets mixing voice, with guitar, violin, and cajon!
